Terms of Use

The terms for using The Salish Guide.

Last updated October 20, 2026

These are the terms of use for SalishGuide.com, written for a Washington audience and from how the site works.

The agreement

If you use SalishGuide.com, you are dealing with the publisher of that site. Using the site means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the site. We may update the terms; the date at the top should change when we do. Continued use after a posted change is acceptance of the new terms.

What this site is

The Salish Guide is an editorial directory of fishing guides who work in Washington. We list businesses, show license information we have checked, publish seasonal fishery notes, and host reviews. We are not the guide. We are not a booking agent. We do not take a deposit, a fare, or any other payment for a fishing trip. You contact the guide and you pay the guide.

A listing is not a promise that a trip will catch fish, that the weather will cooperate, or that a license we checked last season is still valid today. Seasons and rules change. Fishery pages are typical timing, not the law. Before you fish, read the current Washington pamphlet and the emergency rules at wdfw.wa.gov.

Accounts

You must be 13 or older to open an account. You may open a free reviewer account with Google (through the Nextend Social Login plugin, when that is configured) or with a one-time email link. The site sends sign-in links and, where a guide has an email on file, emails your inquiry to that guide with a copy to us (The Salish Guide), from The Salish Guide <noreply@salishguide.com>, and only after sending is turned on.

The email link expires in 15 minutes and works once. We give the same on-screen reply whether or not the address already has an account. The first successful link creates a reviewer account. You are responsible for the email address you type. Do not request links for someone else.

Google sign-in uses Google’s own screens. We receive the name and email Google provides for that sign-in. We do not post to your Google account.

There is no password. Keep your email account and your Google account under your control. Tell us if you think someone else is using your account on The Salish Guide.

We may close an account that breaks these terms. Reviewers and guides use the public site, not the WordPress dashboard.

Reviews

Write about a trip you took. One review per guide. Be accurate. Do not review a business you own, and do not review a listing that uses your own email. Do not offer or accept payment, a free trip, or any other perk in exchange for a review.

Reviews are the words of the person who wrote them. The Salish Guide is not the author of a review. We read reviews before they are public. We may refuse or take down a review that is abusive, that includes private information about a private person, that looks invented, or that breaks these terms. We do not promise to post every review. Moderating a review does not make us its author.

We do not ask you to give up the right to post an honest review. A guide may not require you to delete or change a review as a condition of a trip, a refund, or a discount. We will not enforce a contract term that the Consumer Review Fairness Act makes void.

A Trip-linked badge means a moderator looked at evidence, such as a receipt. It is not a promise about the guide. An unverified review can still be published, and it will be labeled that way.

You may attach a JPEG, PNG, or PDF so we can check the trip. We store that file privately, not in the public media library, and we delete the file 30 days after we decide the review. Do not upload a file you do not have the right to share.

Guides

If a listing is yours, you may claim it. If the listing already has a WDFW license number, you must match it, then confirm a code aimed at the contact already on that listing. If it has no number, you supply one and a moderator reviews it before it is saved. We do not send that code by email or text in this version of the site. A moderator still has to approve the claim. Claiming is free. It does not move you up the list. A guide-supplied number stays unverified until a WDFW record matches it.

After approval you may propose edits to your public text, phone, website, prices, and photo. Those edits wait for a moderator. You may reply once to a review. The reply waits for a moderator too. You may flag a review. You may not delete a review, hide one, or change the stars.

Do not claim a listing that is not your business. Do not send a license number that is not yours.

A guide who has claimed a listing may propose an inquiry email. The Salish Guide reviews that proposal before using it. Approving it does not change the guide’s place in search, the license status, or the reviews on the listing. The Salish Guide does not take booking payments.

Listing stats. A claimed guide may see counts for their own listing in the guide dashboard. These counts are estimates. They leave out known bots and visitors whose browsers block our counting, and they can differ from numbers in other tools. A view means your listing page loaded in a visitor’s browser. A click means a visitor selected your website, phone or booking link. An impression means a labeled Featured card for your listing was at least half visible on screen for about one second. An inquiry means a message sent to you through our inquiry form. Your stats are visible to you and our team, not to other guides or the public. We don’t promise any number of views, clicks, impressions or inquiries.

Featured listings and affiliate links

Some listings are marked Featured. It does not mean we ranked them higher because of reviews, and it does not change the license check. Today our editors choose Featured guides, and no one pays for the spot. If we ever sell placement, we’ll say so on the listing and on our Affiliate Disclosure page before it appears.

Some buttons go to other sites, including FishingBooker. Those are affiliate links when we say so. If you buy or book there, we may earn a commission. You are then on that other site, under their terms. We do not set their prices. That commission is a material connection, and the button says so. We do not pay for reviews, and a Featured spot is not a review.

Inquiries

The contact form stores your message for the directory. Where a guide has an email on file, the form sends your inquiry to the guide with a copy to us. Where they don’t, there’s no form; you contact the guide by phone or through their website. Marking a guide as contacted is a private note for you. It doesn’t verify a trip or a review. Do not use it for emergencies. Do not put a Social Security number, a full financial-account number, or a child’s private details in a message.

Sign-in services, mail, and cookies

Google sign-in, when it is switched on, runs through the Nextend plugin and Google’s own screens. An email sign-in link, when mail is turned on, is sent from noreply@salishguide.com through the Titan mailbox. Until that switch is on, the site does not send the link. The inquiry form requires a Cloudflare Turnstile human check. If that check is not configured, the form is not available and you contact the guide with the public phone or website on the listing. Details of what we store are in the privacy policy.

If you sign in, the site sets a login cookie so it can recognize you. It does not set advertising cookies, and our visit and click counts don’t use cookies. The privacy policy describes the cookie, the IP hash on reviews and inquiries, our visit and click counts, and the 30-day deletion of receipt files.

Copyright complaints

If you believe a page or a review uses your copyrighted work without permission, write to hello@salishguide.com. Include the work you own, the address of the material on this site, your contact information, a statement that you believe the use is not authorized, and a statement that the notice is accurate. We have not registered a DMCA designated agent. Sending this notice does not by itself create that registration.

Acceptable use

Do not scrape the site in a way that degrades it, probe it for weaknesses, post malware, or use it to harass a guide or another angler. Do not submit someone else’s personal information. Do not impersonate a guide or a moderator.

Washington law, including its consumer-protection and fishing statutes, still applies to you when you are in Washington. These terms do not limit any right that a Washington or other U.S. law says we cannot limit.

Our license check

When we show a WDFW license number and a check date, that is our record of what we found in public sources on that date. It is not a certificate from the State of Washington. If a check is old or a license has lapsed, the badge should come off. Tell us if you believe a listing is wrong.

Disclaimers

The directory is provided as it is. To the extent U.S. and Washington law allow, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or that every listing, price, or season note is current.

We are not liable for a guide’s acts, for a trip, for a booking you make on another site, or for decisions you make on the water. To the extent the law allows a limit, our total liability for a claim arising out of the site is the amount you paid us to use it. Using the directory is free, so that amount is zero, except where Washington law does not allow that limit. We do not exclude liability for our own fraud or for any injury a statute says we cannot exclude.

Indemnity

If you post a review, a reply, or an inquiry, you will cover us against claims that your content infringed someone else’s rights or broke the law, to the extent the law allows us to ask for that.

Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and by the laws of the United States where those apply. Court proceedings belong in the state or federal courts located in Washington, and you consent to that location, except where a consumer law gives you the right to sue somewhere else. These terms do not require arbitration. We would rather hear about a problem first. Write to hello@salishguide.com.

Ending

You may stop using the site at any time. We may stop offering it. Sections that should survive (disclaimers, liability limits that the law allows, indemnity, and the dispute clause) survive.
